Ana Watson
Ana Watson is a former Big 12 Softball player. Her abilities within the world of softball have been tested and built since the age of twelve. Her adaptivity and character to endure what the support has bestowed on her is a testament to her success on and off the field. Her devotion and resilience to learn helped build her career in softball. Ana Watson then would then use these same principles and attitudes as a preferred redshirt “walk on” for the Baylor Softball team in 2018. Within a team of veterans, a young Watson played in 48 games with 46 starts primarily used in outfield, finished third on team with a .280 batting average with 13 RBIs, led BU with 10 doubles, finished with nine multi-hit games, including two three-hit games vs. ranked opponents (3-for-4 vs. OSU and 3-for-3 vs. LSU). Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the spring of the 2019 season. Making such huge strides placed Ana as a young rookie that was on everyone’s radar. Unfortunately, great athletes must also go through enduring times. During the 2021 season Watson suffered a season ending injury. Situations like these create or destroy people. Not Ana Watson. Coming back stronger than ever, during 2022/2023 seasons Watson appeared in 55 of 56 games, tailed 41 hits and seven doubles, recorded all three homeruns at the NISC tournament, tailed 26 RBIs and recorded 45 putouts in the field. NISC All-Tournament team in 2022. In 2023 Ana was determined to capitalize on her comeback. Ana Watson appeared in 51 of 58 games, starting 48, hitting .300 with 42 hits, 30 RBIs, a triple and three homeruns. She was third on the team in doubles with 11. Recorded 42 putouts with one assist. Received Big 12 Player of the Week honors after hitting three multi-run homers and totaling 12 RBIs in one weekend. Named to the 2023 Academic All-Big 12 First Team. Watson believes that softball is a sport that has much potential for young women everywhere. Here at BDS, Watson’s goal is to help create opportunities and build a supportive community for young women willing to attain their own dreams and aspirations. She believes that when dreams don’t scare you then you aren’t dreaming big enough.
